It was the August of 2018 when I and a friend of were on our method to Gangotri on our motorbikes. It began to drizzle the minute we crossed Roorkee which was at around 11 AM post which the next 5 hours were spent riding in a heavy rainfall. By the time we reached Chamba, we realized that it would probably be best to not go to Gangotri when its raining cats and pet dogs. So we took the bifurcation at Chamba and chose to visit Mussorie rather. On our way, we discovered a town called Dhanaulti where we stopped at that time only to take shelter for the night as neither people had energy enough delegated keep riding till Mussorie. Little did I know at that time that this village was to become my favorite hill station? A location where I would check out so typically that I might nearly call it my weekend vacation.

Dhanaulti is little town consisting of hardly 50 homes and lies at a distance of about 100 kms from Rishikesh and 25 kilometers from Mussorie. It is not a place that very lots of individuals check out because the neighboring town of Mussorie over-shadows it. There is absolutely nothing about this location that stands apart, it is simply another little village in the hilly region of uttarakhand however yet it has a charm of its own. The silence and peace in this village is something that is just matched by the little villages in Ladakh and Lahaul/Spiti region. Surrounded by lush green hills and tall evergreens, It is a location best for anyone planning to get out of the city and go spend a couple of days in peace.

Temperature here remains extremely low and you will be required to visit warm clothing even in the month of July makings it an ideal place if you wish to beat the heat. Months of December, January and February are of snowfall which only makes it even more picturesque.

As I discussed, there is not much you can do here except to kick back and unwind. If a hectic town and lots of shopping is your idea of trip then this is not the place for you but If a long time alone with yourself or with good friends and family in peace is exactly what you are looking for then Dhanaulti is where you must go. This is also a perfect location for anybody who has interest in nature and landscape photography. Apart from the lavish green vistas, It likewise uses views of the peaks of Swargrohini, Nanda Devi and entire Bandarpunchh range if the weather condition is clear.

Dhanaulti is roughly at a distance of 325 kilometers from Delhi. Head to Haridwar and after that Rishikesh from where you will have to continue on the highway to Gangotri. When you reach Chamba, take the roadway that goes to Mussorie. From Chamba, Dhanaulti is at a range of merely 22 kms. You can also picked to reach here from Mussorie, which is at a range of 25 kms.

While at Dhanaulti, you can check out the Surkanda Mata Temple but remember that it requires some serious climbing on many stairs. If you do not mind a bit of travelling, you can also visit the pariyon ka mandir but please do take a regional as your guide for this trek as there is a threat of getting lost [and also being attacked by pet dogs].

Another location to see here is Eco park which truly is nothing special, simply a wood border extended across a particular area. I am not even sure what the concept behind this was.
